AirTouch 5 Upgrade Canberra — Better Zoning, Same Plant, If the Plant Is Big Enough
AirTouch 5 is a ducted-system controller and zoning upgrade. It lets you run rooms or zones to a set point from a wall screen and the phone. It does not make a too-small outdoor unit larger. Green Air Heating and Cooling in Fyshwick retrofits AirTouch 5 on compatible existing ducted systems and includes it on new ducted installs. If the house never reaches temperature, go to upsizing first. Call 0412 794 558.

What AirTouch 5 does
AirTouch 5 replaces a basic ducted thermostat with zone control, temperature or airflow targeting, and app control. On a healthy ducted system that is already sized for the house, that is often the difference between one cold hallway and one hot west wing, and a house people actually use.
Green Air already lists AirTouch among the brands on the brands page. This page is the retrofit and upgrade path.
What AirTouch 5 does not do
- Add heating or cooling kilowatts
- Repair crushed, wet or undersized ducts
- Turn evaporative cooling into reverse-cycle
- Replace a failed compressor
- Work on every split-only house (it is a ducted zoning product)
If the outdoor unit already runs flat out and the whole house is still off set point, you need capacity, not a smarter controller.

Compatibility and typical work
Compatibility depends on the indoor unit, existing zone motors, and wiring. Polyaire’s own compatibility notes are the manufacturer rule. We confirm on site.
Typical retrofit:
- Confirm the ducted plant has spare capacity and sound ducts.
- Check existing zone motors, transformer and control wiring.
- Quote AirTouch 5 console, any extra zone motors, and labour. Supply-only and DIY kits are not this job.
- Install, commission zones, set up the app, walk through Away and schedules.
- Leave you with a house that zones. If we find the plant is undersized, we stop and requote as an upsize.
Where retrofits pay off in Canberra
Older ducted homes with a single thermostat in the hallway: Woden, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong, late-Belconnen, and Gungahlin houses that already have ducted reverse-cycle. New all-electric Molonglo systems often already have a competent controller; we will say so rather than rip it out.
DIY, Bunnings kits and supply-only
Green Air does not sell AirTouch as a box for you to wire. Incorrect zone wiring damages plant and voids manufacturer support. If you already bought a kit, we can inspect and quote a compliant install, or decline.

Frequently asked questions
Will AirTouch 5 cool a house that never reaches set point?
No. It controls where existing air goes. If the unit is too small, zone the house and you can make some rooms worse. We assess capacity first.
Can you add AirTouch to any ducted brand?
Not any brand, and not every age of indoor unit. Compatibility is checked against the indoor control interface and the zone motors on site.
Do I need new zone motors?
Sometimes. If the dampers are already motorised and healthy, the console and control wiring may be enough. Seized or missing motors are quoted separately.
Is this cheaper than replacing the ducted system?
Usually, when the plant is still sound. It is the wrong spend when the compressor, coils or ducts are finished.
Can I claim the Sustainable Household Scheme for AirTouch only?
Treat AirTouch as a control upgrade, not as a reverse-cycle product on its own. If it is part of a larger eligible heating-and-cooling upgrade, ask at quote. New Scheme loans have been 3% since 1 July 2025.
