Air Conditioning Installation Canberra — Book Before the Summer Rush
Green Air Heating and Cooling installs ducted reverse-cycle and split-system air conditioning across Canberra, Queanbeyan and the ACT from 5 Geelong Street, Fyshwick. Systems are sized for the house, not a floor-area guess, so they hold set point in a Canberra January and a July morning. Book September or October to install before the summer queue. What Green Air installs in Canberra
Green Air installs new and replacement air conditioning for Canberra homes and light-commercial spaces.
- Ducted reverse-cycle for whole-of-home heating and cooling
- Single-head split systems for one room, a studio or a living area
- Multi-head splits where roof space or budget rules out ducting
- Replacement of failed or end-of-life ducted and split systems
- New-build and renovation rough-in with your builder
- AirTouch zoning on compatible ducted systems
If the existing ducted unit still has capacity and the problem is rooms fighting each other, start on the AirTouch 5 upgrade page instead of a full replacement. If the house never reaches set point, use system upsizing.
Brands we supply and install: Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung, Brivis and AirTouch.
How long does installation take in Canberra?
A typical split-system install is same-day, often 3–5 hours once access, electrics and a compliant outdoor location are confirmed. A typical single-storey ducted install is 1–2 days. Two-storey homes, tight roof spaces and full duct replacement take longer. You get the duration in writing on the quote, not on the phone.
When should I book so the system is in before summer?
Book in September or October. Canberra’s run of 30 °C days is still low in those months and jumps from November. That is when every installer fills the diary. A quote in mid-September is how you lock an install slot rather than joining January’s emergency list. Climate averages for Canberra Airport sit on the Bureau of Meteorology station table.
Ducted or split for a Canberra house?
| Home type | Usually better | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Whole house, existing ducts in fair condition | Ducted reverse-cycle | One system for heating and cooling, zoning available |
| One or two rooms, granny flat, garage conversion | Split or multi-head | Faster, lower disruption, no roof-full of duct |
| House that never cools upstairs | Assessment first | May need a larger ducted unit, extra splits, or both. See upsizing. |
| Secondary dwelling | Split first | See granny flat air conditioning. |
Canberra needs heating as much as cooling. Reverse-cycle is the default. Green Air does not take on new ducted gas heating connections.
What does the visit and quote include?
- On-site assessment of layout, insulation, glazing, roof space and how you use the house.
- Written quote with make, model, capacity in kW, indoor and outdoor locations, duct and zone plan, and controller.
- Licensed install to Australian Standards, including refrigerant handling.
- Commissioning on heating and cooling, controller walkthrough, warranty registration.
- Direct after-sales support from the same Canberra business.
ACT finance and rebates
The ACT Sustainable Household Scheme offers low-interest loans for eligible households. New Scheme loans have carried 3% interest since 1 July 2025. It is a loan, not a discount off the quote. We can help you use it where you are eligible.
If you are replacing ducted gas heating and you are an ActewAGL electricity customer in the ACT, ask at quote whether an ActewAGL heating and cooling upgrade can apply. Amounts and approved-retailer rules change. Queanbeyan and other NSW addresses are not on ACT schemes.
Suburbs and districts
Green Air installs from Fyshwick across Canberra and nearby NSW, including Belconnen, Gungahlin, Inner North, Inner South, Woden, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong, Molonglo, Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong.
NSW quotes do not include ACT rebate or Scheme language.
Why this page exists
You should be able to book an install slot without wading through a generic heating-and-cooling hub. This page is the install path. Repairs stay on repairs and maintenance. Ducted product detail stays on ducted systems. Split product detail stays on split systems.

Frequently asked questions
How much does air conditioning installation cost in Canberra?
There is no honest one-price figure. Capacity, brand, ductwork, electrics, roof access and zoning change the job. Green Air issues a written, itemised quote after a site visit.
Do you install in Queanbeyan as well as Canberra?
Yes. Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong are in the service area. ACT finance and rebate wording does not apply to NSW addresses.
Can I use the Sustainable Household Scheme?
If you are an eligible ACT household, yes in principle. New loans are 3% interest, not zero-interest. Confirm current caps and eligibility on the ACT Government Scheme page before you budget.
Will you install a portable or window box from a retailer?
No. Green Air supplies and installs fixed split and ducted systems. We do not install customer-supplied DIY kits.
What if my current system is just undersized?
Use the upsizing page. Replacing a thermostat will not fix a unit that is too small for the house.
