Cold bathroom? Your ducted heating may already have the answer.

A cold Canberra bathroom is often a room the ducted system never reached, not a room that needs a new heater. Green Air Heating and Cooling in Fyshwick checks whether an extra outlet can be added to the existing ducted system so the bathroom can warm before a shower. The exhaust fan stays. It clears shower steam. The new outlet is for comfort air from the system you already have. This is not a mould treatment, and it is not a fit for every home. Call 0412 794 558.

This uses the ducted system you already have

The job is a branch or extra outlet off an existing ducted heating system, usually ducted reverse-cycle, into the bathroom. It is not a new split system, not a heated floor, and not a second exhaust fan. If the house has splits only, this page is the wrong job. Start with installation or upsizing.

We check spare capacity before we quote. An extra outlet that steals air from bedrooms is not a win. If the plant already runs flat out and the house never reaches set point, capacity comes first.

Where a bathroom outlet helps

  • Cold bathroom mornings. Warm the room before a shower and make getting ready more comfortable.
  • Damp towels. Warm airflow can help towels and wet surfaces dry faster in winter. It does not replace the exhaust fan.
  • Mould concern. A drier bathroom can help reduce the damp conditions mould favours. The heating outlet works alongside the exhaust fan, which removes shower steam. We do not treat mould, and we do not guarantee it will not return.
  • Use the system you already have. Extend the comfort of ducted reverse-cycle heating into the bathroom instead of adding a separate heater.
  • Alternative to other upgrades. It may be a more affordable option than heated floors or a heated towel rail, depending on the home, the ceiling, and the duct run. We quote after we see it. We do not publish a price on this page.
  • Possible summer benefit. The outlet may also provide cooling if the system and the duct layout allow it. We do not promise cooling in every bathroom.

What this job does not do

  • Replace a missing, noisy or failed exhaust fan
  • Add heating or cooling kilowatts to an undersized outdoor unit
  • Work on a split-only house
  • Treat mould, leaking showers, or wet walls
  • Guarantee the bathroom will cool in summer
  • Guarantee a lower price than a heated towel rail before we see access and the duct path

What the bathroom heating check covers

  1. Confirm the house has ducted reverse-cycle, or another ducted heating system that can take a bathroom outlet.
  2. Look at spare capacity, the ceiling, the existing exhaust, and whether a duct can reach the room.
  3. Separate a heating-outlet job from an exhaust-fan job. Steam still has to leave the room.
  4. Quote the outlet, any damper or zone motor, and making good. No supply-only kits.
  5. If we install, test the heat and show that the exhaust still clears shower steam. If the plant is too small, we stop and requote as an upsize.

Canberra homes this suits

Ducted homes where the living areas are comfortable and the bathroom was left off the plan: Woden, Weston Creek, Tuggeranong, Belconnen, and older Gungahlin houses with ducted reverse-cycle. A tight ensuite with no ceiling space, or a bathroom under a flat roof with no duct path, may not be a fit. We will say so.

Frequently asked questions

Can you add a bathroom outlet to any ducted system?

No. It depends on the plant, spare capacity, and whether a duct can reach the bathroom. Splits-only houses are not this job. We check on site before we quote.

Will this replace the exhaust fan?

No. The outlet supplies comfort air from the ducted system. The exhaust fan is still the path for shower steam. A warm bathroom with nowhere for moisture to go can stay damp.

Will a warmer bathroom stop mould?

A drier room can help reduce the damp conditions mould favours. It will not fix a leaking shower, a wet wall, or mould already in the ceiling. Green Air does not treat mould.

Is this cheaper than a heated towel rail or heated floor?

It may be, depending on the home. Ceiling access, a new damper, and the duct run change the quote. We do not promise a saving until we have seen the system.

Can the same outlet cool the bathroom in summer?

It may, if the system is reverse-cycle and the duct layout can send cooling to that outlet. We confirm that on the check. We do not promise summer cooling on every job.

Is this covered by the Sustainable Household Scheme?

An extra bathroom outlet is not, by itself, a Scheme heating-and-cooling product. Do not budget this job as an SHS loan. If it is part of a larger eligible upgrade, ask at quote. New Scheme loans have been 3% since 1 July 2025.
